Peter McGraw, co-author of the new book, The Humor Code: A Global Search for What Makes Things Funny has developed a new theory of humor: the benign violation theory. The theory is that the idea that humor only arises when something seems wrong or threatening, but simultaneously seems okay or safe.
To put McGraw's theory to the test, we're subjecting eight successful humorists to the Ultimate Venn Diagram Joke Tournament! Can they combine benign concepts and horrible violations and come up with hilarity?
