Oh, you have opened up a can of worms here! John is now looking up old stuff from his panto days. I don't think he knows about the York one. In Yorkshire we normally go to Amerdale (great country house hotel there) and do some fell-walking...don't get to actual York. But now you have whetted his appetite! His best friend lives in Stratford...we always spend time with that family...and John says they were in pantos together in the village where they grew up. Panto MADNESS going on here now!

I'll have to shake this info out of John! He actually directed Shakespeare for a professional company here in NM for many years, and had acting and directing experience growing up in the UK, so I think he is a pretty good actor (I've never seen him, though! This was before we met.) He said his father was in a panto troupe that entertained soldiers after WWI...so his family were very much panto fans. He is now jealous!
