We shorten the titles so they don't give away the joke because in readers, we want people to get the joke from the caption if the caption and title are the same. Also just so you know, the changes on ICHC and IHAH will be effective Friday since the moderator had already scheduled out for Thursday by the time we spoke. But if you do something that needs to be changed, let me know. Thanks
So we looked at about how many lolz actually have their title changed from the original caption, and on ICHC and IHAH home pages, we only get about 1 out of the 7 lolz for that day with a changed title. Since it is a smaller number and will only slightly affect the searching issue, we will keep the original title written by the creator on the home pages of ICHC and IHAH as much as we can.
On ICHC and IHAH lolz, we revert the title back to the first part of the caption because it helps with people searching for that lol because people usually remember the caption and it just makes the search process easier for users. In our previous conversation, I had mentioned that the titles weren't going to be changed for PK, HL and RR, so we should hopefully be abiding by that on those sites, but on ICHC and IHAH, we will still be reverting titles back to the first part of the caption. Hai Tarantino, I spoke to the mods who run PK, ROFLrazzi and Historic Lols, and they will try to keep the original titles that users have put down as much as possible and keep the work intact. Were you also referring to After dark lols are well? Were there other sites?
Just to let you know where the site admins are coming from -- they sometimes change titles to add more description/context to the lol, but they do sometimes keep the original user titles on there. How often is it happening and how much rage is there? ;)
I'm checking in with the team about this. I know in most cases, they do it for SEO reasons or to provide context, etc. I'll send u an update later. Thx.
Hai, new frend!!! Sorry 'bout all the *ed*ing yesterday! I don't usually do that. In this case however... The first title that was changed on me really took me by surprise. I thought "why did they change it, and change it to something stupid?". I wrote and the reply was that 'they' didn't want to give away too much of what the lol had, so's people would scroll down and read the lol. BS, but what was I gonna do? It wasn't so bad that time because it hadn't been changed on the actual lol, it was just the title for the fp. When a person scrolled over the lol, the original title popped up. Now, however, they change the whole thing. And as I told MikeV, it is not for the better or the funnier. It’s like you have been saying, I feel like I’ve been robbed of my lol. I think if the mods want to be so clever with titling lols, they should probably make their own. Or at least confer with the original maker. Anywayz, good to have you a part of my crazy circle!!!
