Yep. Likewise. *** (By cataff on Sep 26, 2019 at 8:07 PM * "Time and tide wait for no man." Chaucer I feel older by the day now.)

It's surprising but unsurprising; he sounds strong, he _is_ getting older. "Focus on the people close to you" is my coping mechanism. Thank you, same to you. You're welcome. *** (By cataff on Aug 13, 2019 at 7:20 PM * I hadn't heard that Brennaman is in his last season at the mic. I don't follow baseball as much as I once did. The changes in this country wear on my nerves. I hope you are fine. Thanks for this message.)

Ohai. Thought of you when I heard that Marty Brennaman is retiring after this year. (He announced in January, I just heard about it recently.) Hope you're doing well.

Bad news and good news: Puig just overthrew the cut-off man. Good news: he's now playing for Cincinnati. I can see you nodding from here.

They're called fanatics, not rationalists. :) Right, Plaschke made that point (about management's culpability). *** (By cataff on Dec 23, 2018 at 1:45 PM * The fans' responses didn't surprise me. They love him and seem to ignore all the games he cost them and his embarrassing behavior at times. No player is worth putting up with all of that, but I blame management too for not reining him in.)

You're welcome. Yes, my point was surprise at how many fans have a vitriolic response to Plaschke's reasonable position. Kershaw should take a lesson from Koufax. *** (By cataff on Dec 23, 2018 at 1:10 PM * The article itself is great too. Thanks for the link. When I heard about the trade, my first words were "good riddance." Puig should have been gone at the end of the 2014 season. I hope the team will show some common sense and get some solid pitching with the money they have freed up. They desperately need it. I am sad to say that I think Kershaw's body is pretty much through even though his spirit isn't. I really like him and am glad he has been a Dodger and am still incensed by the so-called fans who trashed him at the end of the World Series. I was hoping he wouldn't pick up the option year because his body has been showing very clearly that it can't handle a full season anymore. I know he works hard to stay in shape, and I don't want to see him leave on a low and with so much physical damage that he is in pain the rest of his life.)

That is lucky. I think 2katmom (NJ) said they started as snow and turned to rain. I wonder if there were any major closures in the general area. Schools, airports, etc. *** (By cataff on Nov 15, 2018 at 7:20 PM * We were very lucky this time. The sleet/rain line was one county west of us. We had a ton of rain but that was it. The western part of the state had snow and lots of sleet with strong winds. There is a lot of damage due to downed trees there.)

It pains me to watch top athletes shine in regular season play and falter in postseason. Is it hyperbolic to call them "tragic figures"? I wish Kershaw better health, whatever he does. *** (By cataff on Oct 28, 2018 at 1:12 PM * Roberts doesn't deserve another win, but Kershaw and others do. They won't get it though. I fear Kershaw is near the end of his career. This is the third season in a row that he's had serious physical issues. I'm not even sure if he can hold up as a reliever for an entire season, and it's a shame. He works hard and has made the most of his considerable talent.)

A true train wreck. Even the Sox's Joe Castiglione was second guessing. Is it too harsh to say that at this point Roberts doesn't deserve to win? Would be nice for Kershaw to win one more postseason game, however. *** (By cataff on Oct 28, 2018 at 10:39 AM * I couldn't watch all of the game and was too angry to say anything. LA needs a new manager. Roberts hasn't been right for a while now and is acting more like Dusty Baker than the Roberts of a couple of seasons ago.)
