Yes, I know it is disappointing when comments don't get through moderation. I understand too that if I had to moderate my own blog, I would have reservations about approving too much feedback against my own decisions. Or perhaps they had enough similar commentary and stopped after approving someone else? Using the official feedback channels leaves you at the mercy of the employees and I confess to having used some contact directly to Tofu because some of my feedback in the past was never acknowledged or I got the standard company-speak responses. They know we DID have a large community but so many went away by themselves (Janet, for example) or deliberately pulled back into lurking and we are only a shadow of those numbers. Apart from us, there are other commenting groups in ICHC sites such as Failbook, Dropping the Science and Memebase and they outnumber us and have different priorities. Eg, we are the only ones who nest comments so far and so often (with the alphabetical lists). The real power is the two million visitors a day who visit the site and only want to vote (up or down), "like", favorite or share on Facebook and Twitter. I would think the bulk of them are decades younger than the average Lolspeak commenter (me, for instance). I bet the company did not expect the backlash from adapting the site to look and feel like Facebook but they did respond and Cheezburger comments emerged. For whatever reason, they will be quitting with Wordpress and they chose a product from a company called Echo (see aboutecho.com) and so the software is adjustable to a degree but really like a package on a shelf otherwise. Now we have to ask them to tweak the settings on the package or pay for what could be large changes or undeliverable if Echo can't or won't do it. It's complicated. Someone else on one of the earlier big shifts said, We don't pay for the service so they don't owe us anything. We do like to think we have some ownership of it because of the user contributions but the comment is basically right. I hope our friends stick together and we'll have to try to be patient and keep asking nicely for those things we honestly think we need to hang on for. Some are content to make a single comment and go, "for 5 minutes of happiness", but I like the fun of the wordplay and the shared play is the most fun for me. I think we should wait a while yet.
