Nintendo just dropped a brand-new Pokémon game announcement, and honestly? I'll take whatever new Pokémon content I can get. Say hello to Pokémon Champions, a battle-focused game that feels like a spiritual successor to Pokémon Stadium—but with a major twist: you can use your Pokémon from older games!
Pokémon Champions is coming to Nintendo Switch and mobile, making it a unique cross-platform Pokémon experience. The game will feature Pokémon HOME compatibility, which means you'll be able to transfer your favorite Pokémon from previous games and battle with them—a dream come true for longtime trainers. But don't worry if you don't have a stockpile of high-level Pokémon ready to go, as Nintendo has hinted at alternative ways to form teams, possibly through a rental system like in Pokémon Stadium.
Perhaps the most exciting revelation is that Mega Evolution and Terastalization are both confirmed—we saw a Mega Charizard X battling a Terastalized Dondozo in the announcement trailer, meaning different battle gimmicks from multiple generations will mix. Whether this also means the return of Dynamaxing and Z-Moves remains to be seen, but at this point, anything feels possible.
The game is being developed by Game Freak in collaboration with The Pokémon Works, and while there's no release date yet, it's already shaping up to be a must-play for battle lovers.
Are you hyped for Pokémon Champions? Because I sure am. Let me know what feature you're most excited for (and whether you still have your perfectly EV-trained team ready to go).
