Font - Employers that respect pet emergencies appreciation post [Discussion] I woke up today and my cat instantly alerted me that something was wrong, at first I thought she was complaining that my dog snuck down and ate all her food over night, but even after I got her more food she was still trying to talk to me. That's when she led me to my dog's bloody diarrhea! I instantly went into a panic, I raced to my dog and checked him for any visible damage, then called a 24hr emergency vet. After ge

We love that it was the cat who ended up alerting OP about this pet emergency. Family knows when something is off! And let's just take a moment to appreciate this rock star employer for expressing such wholesome values. To hear assurance from a boss that your dog comes first makes all the difference in a stressful moment such as this one.

Font - jeswesky · 6d So glad my company is great about this as well. They all know that my dog is my baby, and he will come before anything else. Earlier this summer he actually broke a leash while we were hiking about 3 hours away from home and went missing for 16 hours. Thad people from work arranging to come out and help look for him, my boss telling me to now worry about work they will handle things until he is found no matter how long it took, and just amazing amounts of support. Hurray! Another super understanding and supportive boss. And not to mention a super supportive work environment as well! If our co workers ever have a pet go missing, you best believe we will be on our way to help in whatever way we can.

Font - Cursethewind · 6d Champion; Mika NTD/Sebastian NTD I once had gastro issues and my dog had diarrhea the same day. I told my boss I needed to take a half day because the two combined was affecting my ability to be productive and she just told me to make up the time throughout the week so I didn't need to use my sick time and it wouldn't count against me. Font - atlantisgate · 6d shih tzu mystery mix Love this! My employer is good about this too. I tried to take vacation time instead of sick leave for a vet visit once when I first started because that was the policy at my last employer -- sick time was only for you or your human dependents. My boss was like "your dog is your family and his health counts too, that should always be sick leave." S/o to excellent employers! Font - FOXF1R396• 6d name: breed A prior boss of mine was super chill about me mentioning I needed to go home every two hours just to let my dog out cause he was having bad diarreah. Than again, that's more of a "Yo. Let me not come home at the end of the day to a literal shit show." 28 Promah1984 6d I would argue that your dogs health effects your mental health and is thus a legitimate sick day. 38

Font - Sage_Fox · 6d Aww I love that your cat led you to the problem. So precious! G Reply 1 47 3 ThatMkeDoe OP · 6d My cat is the mvp in the house for this reason! She makes sure l'm up for work, makes sure everyone has food and water, makes sure l'm aware of what her brother (my dog) has done etc etc. She runs a very tight ship it's honestly impressive how well she does at taking care of herself, my dog and even me. Can't tell you how many times l've almost been late to work only to be saved b

Font - pennygadget6•6d My pup had TPLO surgery a little over 4 week ago. The week leading up to, and the first week after were really intense with getting the house ready, and then caring for him as we figured out our new routine. The third week was also challenging as my husband had to travel for a week so it was just Rudy and I, with me sleeping on the couch every night. Both mentally and physically exhausting - but my clients were all SO understanding. So appreciative of that! I think one of

Font - Mischungg · 6d Employers that see dogs as family are the best. When I have an emergency I can take my dog without an issue. We started making some badges for our dogs in a local work event (it's just a fake badge with their names and their work is "redditor's "home office partner) and even the VP, who saw on social media the badges, messaged us to get a badge! We were pretty surprised because otherwise they don't talk with us lol.

Font - Luna-Ryder · 6d I don't have human kids, I have fur babies. And if my coworkers can leave early / take a day off to take their child to a routine eye exam / dental visit, I sure as hell expect to be able to take time to take my dogs to an emergency vet appointment. They chose to have kids. chose to have dogs.

Company has been laying off worker left and right so I was on edge asking for half days or to leave early. My boss has been super understanding and in the event that the trial treatment doesnt work they will let me take time off no questions asked to spend her last week with her.

Font - FruitPunchPossum · 6d All of this! I'm not sure if my employer is ok with everyone doing this or just me bc I used to have a much higher position and am their longest standing employee. My dog had a seizure on my day off, and I immediately called and let them know, and said I wouldn't be able to come in the following day. They had no issue with it all.

Font - 1cecream4breakfast · 6d I'm going through doggy illness right now TONS of vet visits and l'm not sleeping well. Employer is super understanding which is a huge blessing. My director had to put down one of her dogs (as did I) last year and she knows they are like kids, especially for those of us who don't have any human kids. It's so appreciated.
