Sometimes you have to know how to bluff in order to advance your own interests — in a game as well as in real life. This Reddit user posted to the popular subreddit r/ProRevenge to share a story from their days working at a chain hair salon that handed out significantly lower paychecks while running a silly "back to school" haircut deal for kids. In response to this, u/lagomorphlover decided to tell a "total brown-nose and gossip" colleague that they had received a significantly better job offer from a competing salon and were about to quit the current position and asked them not to spread the news. Of course, the gossiping colleague couldn't help but let word spill, leading the chain salon to actually offer the original poster significantly more money, better commission, and a set schedule… all for pretending they had received a better job offer!
Good thing this salon employee had a particular coworker who knew how to not keep a secret — they played their hand perfectly. The detail that caps off this perfect tale of workplace revenge is that the original poster received $10,000 in a class-action lawsuit against the company once they actually left five years later. For another work triumph, here's the janitor who dressed up, got confused with his manager, and got his job.
