In times of crisis, cringe is inevitable. Especially on Twitter. Remember back in 2020 when Gal Gadot and a bunch of other Hollywood stars sang John Lennon's "Imagine" in one of the most impressive displays of cringe the internet had ever seen? Well it seems that influencers and celebs haven't learned a thing from that atrocity. They just can't help themselves, it seems. This week's Main Character is 90210 actress AnnaLynne McCord, who posted a two-minute video in which she recites a bizarre poem addressed to Vladimir Putin.
"I'm so sorry that I was not your mother," McCord says earnestly, "if I was your mother you would have been so loved." McCord's cloying fantasy about being the Russian president's mom did not resonate with many. Instead, thousands of people from across the political spectrum expressed their unified repulsion through reaction memes, parodies, and brutal roasts. In a way, McCord's cringe video actually brought a lot of people together. Pretty inspiring.
Many of the roasts and memes in the thread got overwhelmingly more likes than McCord's actual post.
It's hard to top the infamously cringe "Imagine" video that celebrities collectively subjected us to in 2020, but many think McCord may have done it.
