Most cats hate water, and woe to those who try to get a kitty into a bathtub. Those who have succeeded left the scene with the scars to prove it. To be honest, cats, for the most part, aren't supposed to be bathed. They are very good at grooming themselves and don't actually need that bubble bath that you so crave for yourself after a long hard day at work. In fact, they abhor baths - and the easiest explanation is that they simply are just not used to being wet. And if you think about it, having a human spray water on you can be quite scary - even if you trust the human!
In addition, cats have fur. When said fur is wet, then it becomes heavy - and kitties are pretty agile creatures. So when they're wet and feel heavy - they feel less graceful and flexible.
