Sometimes us hooman need a little reminder of the living situation we are putting ourselves in when we decide or are chosen to become feline pawrents. Most will focus upon the illustrious magic of taking on the needs and wants of a magnificent fur baby, full of cuddles, purrs, pets and play time. A pure and innocent relationship that cannot be marred by anything or anyone. However, as is in most cases, life is rarely that simple. Much of the time it is like you have taken on a smoke alarm that only blares when it is hungry, or a moody teenager who is only interested in you for food and complains when you do not clean up their mess.

So just before you go wild and adopt all the cats at your local shelter, take a moment to pursue this list, have a laugh and put your need for a fur baby into perspective. That way you'll hopefully only adopt one or two and have a manageable, albeit strained, existence there after.

Exhibit A, adopting a cat means making room for their plethora of very visible emotions. In some cases it means literally giving them a space to process their emotions, like in this case. Take this into account if you are a studio flat dweller, between their litter boxes, emotional boxes and any other land they decide to occupy, there will not be a lot of space left over for you.

There is nothing short of an incredible distraction that could even slightly deter a cat from coming after you for what it perceives to be its birth-right.
