Motherhood is nothing close to a walk in the park. Every mother has their own unique experience, just like every child has their own unique childhood. You can prepare all you want to become a mother, but there are some things life throws at you that you simply cannot plan for.
With society's grasp on womanhood ever-evolving, raising a daughter is also ever-evolving. Back in the '50s mothers wanted to raise girls that would make a perfect wife. Then the '60s hit and women started burning the bra and demanding more rights, and now mothers wanted to raise girls who didn't need a man for financial support. It has only grown from there, even if politicians want you to think otherwise. Women are only getting stronger, which means mothers want to raise their girls as strong as ever and ready for anything—that's a lot easier said than done, though. Mothers are now having to be stronger than ever and trying to dismantle the trauma passed down from their mothers while simultaneously trying to discover their own personal traumas as not to pass any of those down. It's hard work. How can you raise a little girl confident in her appearance and attitude, when you are insecure of your own?
Mothers on Reddit come together to pass down the wisdom they learned from raising daughters and it's much more wholesome than you'd expect. See below!
