People hate dating apps so much that it has become hack comedy to complain about them. But that won't stop us. Dating apps feel like the default way to date, in a world where everyone is glued to their phones and so much of our social lives is conducted online. Is it the endless swiping, the atomizing of relationships, or do we all just hate having to distill ourselves down to a couple of photos and a quippy line? A Twitter thread recently explored an interesting facet of this love-hate dynamic: rejection.
