Finding housing nowadays is already near impossible, and when you add your pet into the mix, housing options almost become obsolete. It's a tough world out there for the animal lovers. But this thread might give you a little tinge of hope as pawrents swap stories of getting caught red-pawed and the surprising (and sometimes heartwarming) responses from their landlords. While a few landlords held their ground with strict "no-pet" policies, a surprising number turned a blind eye.
Take my own experience, for example. I had a Pitbull (the sweetest, most lovable pup ever), but my apartment complex didn't allow "aggressive" breeds. Sounds a bit like discrimination, right? Since my dog was a mutt, I had taken a DNA test and found out she was 12% Boston Terrier. Refusing to leave my pup behind, I listed her as a Boston Terrier mix, and when we showed up for our pet interview (yes, that is a thing), the leasing agent brought her own dog—a Pitbull—who could've been my dog's twin. We laughed it off, and she never did question the breed, though we both clearly knew.
Keep scrolling for more stories like these that just might restore your faith in landlords. It turns out that some of them are just as pet-loving as the rest of us.
