'You did the right thing': Woman writes heartfelt letter to her foster dog's previous owner who tragically gave him up due to an injury that made her unable to walk him

There is nothing more tragic than a dog owner being forced to make the difficult decision to surrender their beloved canine companion. That's right, it's not all abandoned, stray, or traumatized dogs in shelters—sometimes it is very much loved dogs that just happened to get an owner who ended up being dealt unfortunate hands. Though she loved him with all of her heart and poured that love into him, she had an accident. This situation made it difficult for her to be able to talk Cezar for walks, which all responsible dog owners know, is a non-negotiable part of taking care of a dog. She also noticed Cezar had a limp of his own that she could not afford to take care of. So she made the heartbreaking, yet courages decision to surrender him.

Cezar is now being fostered by a woman named Isabel who has taken him in with open arms and introduced her to the rest of her fur family. She knows little of Cezar's backstory, but knows that he was surrendered by a woman who suffered an injury that made her unable to keep him…

While Cezar has been in Isabel's care he has been nothing but happy, loving, and well-behaved. He loves to cuddle with her, he plays well with the other fur pups, and he is excited to meet every human who crosses his path. She quickly realized that this dog did not come from a broken home, but from a loving one. That the previous owner to Cezar loved this pup very much and you can tell by how easily Cezar is able to give love in return. It broke her heart to realize this, but also made her want to thank the previous owner. Because though she can't imagine how difficult that decision must have been to make, she knows the previous owner chose what was best for Cezar and he can now live a long and happy life always filled with love, because of her tough decision.

Hi, my name is Isabel and I've had the pleasure of loving Cezar while he waits for his forever home. I know a little bit of your story. I know you fell while walking Cezar and were no longer able to care for him. I can't imagine how difficult that decision must have been. I can't imagine how your heart must have been stuck between what you wanted and the right thing to do.

I'm sure you noticed his limping before you brought him to the shelter and I want you to know that it's all taken care of, he had a surgery to repair it and he's healing every single day. I can tell how much you loved Cezar by how much he loves everyone he meets. His heart is big and wide and open and I know it was made that way by the person who taught him that humans are kind and generous. He is so silly and he makes us laugh everyday; his funny noises his love of toys; the way he demands to cuddle on the couch; his tiny little buck teeth. I bet he made you laugh too.

There's so much I could tell you! So many days I wish I could hold your hand and tell you not to worry because you did the right thing. Because Cezar is so loved and will continue to be loved and it's all because of you. I will do my best to honor you by finding him a home that cherishes him as much as we both do love me."
