Since then, Fred Durst, lead singer of the somehow-still-around Limp Bizkit, has increasingly been confused with the eccentric millionaire. And Fred Durst has grown afraid an association with the alleged killer will sully his reputation.

ROBERT Durst is the subject of the HBO documentary show The Jinx

Acquitted for the intentional murder and dismemberment of a Galveston man, he was released after a jury found he acted in self defense, ROBERT Durst was arrested March 14 for the murder of Susan Berman.

Since then, many outlets have connected him with the possibility of other disappearances.

FRED Durst is the leader of the 'Nu Metal' band Limp Bizkit

Hailing from Florida, if you can believe it, FRED Durst has fronted Limp Bizkit through all of its incarnations. This includes the adoption a wayward member of The Misfits.

FRED has seen it all. From working as a tattoo artist to claiming some sort of relationships with Christina Aguilera and Brittney Spears, he's now moved to forming a type of career in the film industry.

He's been both in front of and behind the camera, including directing this commercial for eHarmony.

The AP only made matter worse for poor Fred

Media blog Romenesko reported this glaring error and correction made by the Associated Press:

"In the second item of the California 10th NewsMinute sent March 16 to users of the state broadcast wire, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Robert Durst is a member of a band. He is a real estate heir; Fred Durst is a member of the band Limp Bizkit."

Oh brother, who knows what to believe now.
