TikToker Starts a Video Dyeing Her Shirt, Ends It With Her House Burning Down

TikToker Lauren Toomey aka @highandhydrated started an innocent TikTok of herself using coffee to dye a cute shirt she had just bought. The video goes through her modeling the shirt and then showing the process of her putting it into a bucket of coffee. You will never get to see how the shirt turned out, however, because the end of the video takes a total 360 with a house fire. Toomey says at the end, “so ummm, funny story, my f**king house burned down. So I'm currently living in a hotel and have no idea what happened with the shirt.”

She posted a couple of updates on the situation and her viewers have been very supportive, even donating money to her Venmo. The fire had nothing to do with the DIY project, it started in the chimney and spread from there. When she made the TikTok, it was after the fire had happened. She had the dyeing video saved in her drafts, was trying to remember what happened to that shirt, and then recalled it burned in the fire. The video has since gone extremely viral with over 8 million views.

For someone who's house has just burned down, Toomey is extremely optimistic. She makes sure to say how grateful she is for all of the support and she is focusing on the more important things she did not lose in the fire like her parents and her dogs. Viewers post some dark humor-esque comments like, “the shirt didn't get dyed. It died" and Toomey is the first to like it and laugh along with them. So her high spirits definitely bring a hopeful end to this crazy sage.

Though viewers will never know how the shirt actually turned out, the viral video is an enthralling story showing how family and loved ones (including beloved pets) are more important than anything else.
