    Horrific and Tragic News

Via a flight from Houston to New York, Catalina Castano (Mother) told Buzzfeed News was flying with her 2 children (11 year old daughter, and 2 month old son) after visiting her husband. The adorable 10 month old bulldog, Kokito, was securely fastened in his TSA approved kennel under the seat, when a flight attendant told Castano, needed to be stored in the overheard bin. The puppy had tragially died due to suffocation by the time the plane landed in LaGuardia, according to the Boston Globe.

Brayan Castano (husband) stated "My wife repeatedly asked her to let her keep the dog by her feet, ... She then asked her if the dog would be OK. The flight attendant wouldn't let her keep Kokito by her feet and assured her that he would be fine. Witnesses can attest to that."

    And thankfully, witnesses have...

    Taking to Social Media

Text - MaggieGremminger Follow @MaggieGrem I just flew into LGA and witnessed a United flight attendant instruct a passenger to put her dog bag in the overhead bin. It was clearly a dog and while the customer was adamant about leaving it under the seat, the attendant pushed her to do so. (1) 9:02 PM-12 Mar 2018 1,493 Retweets 3,424 Likes 5SOS L1.5K 169 3.4K

Fellow witness and passenger to the incident Maggie Gremminger took to social media to report the incident and state the facts.

Text - MaggieGremminger Follow @MaggieGrem Myself and a fellow passenger felt like that was NOT a thing. I am not a flight attendant tho. Maybe they have air ventilation in there that I didn't know about. I tried googling rules about pets on board but didn't have ample time before takeout. (2) 9:04 PM 12 Mar 2018

Gremminger claimed that the attendant had pushed the woman to place the dog in the overhead storage area, against the woman's wishes , that originally wanted to place the dog under her seat.

Text - MaggieGremminger Follow @MaggieGrem At the end of the flight, the woman found her dog, deceased. She sat in the airplane aisle on the floor crying, and all of surrounding passengers were utterly stunned. (3) 9:04 PM - 12 Mar 2018

Text - MaggieGremminger Follow @MaggieGrem I am disgusted and traumatized. Pets are family. How could a trained flight attendant instruct a passenger to place her dog in that bin. It was her job to understand the plane and it's rules/limitations. (4) 9:12 PM - 12 Mar 2018

Text - MaggieGremminger Follow @MaggieGrem I don't know how I'll sleep tonight. It was clearly a dog in a TSA approved dog bag. Why would the flight attendant force the woman to put her dog there? I could have done something. I'm so upset. 9:13 PM 12 Mar 2018

Sadly, another passenger, June Lara, also stated on Facebook that many suspected the worse when there was no sound as the plane landed. Via Distractify; "There was no sound as we landed and opened his kennel.  There was no movement as his family called his name. I held her baby as the mother attempted to resuscitate their 10 month old puppy.{...} I assumed there must be ventilation [in the overhead bin] as surely the flight attendant wouldn't have instructed this otherwise. I heard the dog barking a little and we didn't know it was a cry for help."

Text - Amanda Palumbo Follow @amandapalumbo "...apologized for the incident." The incident was a living damn dog. Jesus, United KCTV5 News @KCTV5 Dog dies after owner was told by United flight attendant to put it in overhead bin >> kctv5.com/story/37716366... 1:45 PM - 13 Mar 2018

In a statement, a United Airlines spokesperson confirmed the incident and said that the company is taking full responsibility. "We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them," United said. "We are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again."

But is that enough? The answer for us... is NO! And many people on twitter agree.

Text - Joe Cluxton Follow @Castletonian Replying to @roqueandrolle I read it and am wondering how can a flight attendant not be aware of the airlines policy - "A pet traveling in cabin must be carried in an approved hard-sided or soft-sided kennel. The kennel must fit completely under the seat in front of the customer " 2:04 PM 13 Mar 2018
