Elephant Conservation: AUD $99,641 ($73,076)
Due to the result of rampant poaching, there are fewer than 1,000 elephants left In Indonesia. The Elephant Conservation campaign helps create Elephant Patrols Units for the protection of the Sumatran Elephants. The campaign is still taking donations!
Homeless People & Animals Together: $84,710
A couple in Rio are working to create a new form of animal shelter, entirely run by homeless people. They currently have 23 dogs in their home, all strays found on the streets of Rio. Their aim is to "create a top-flight animal shelter devoted to finding homes for abandoned and homeless animals in need, while providing homeless people a purposeful job based on their passion for animals, along with a wide array of support to help them exit life on the street and find permanent employment." This campaign is still taking donations.
Saving The Animals: $86,347
For over 47 years, the Pickens County Humane Society in Pickens County, South Carolina, has been working to rescue animals and prevent animal cruelty. Its GoFundMe campaign has raised money for a mobile vet unit so they can reach more communities and expand their help.
Rehab Baby & Injured Birds: $96,141
The Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is an organization, in North Texas, that's dedicated to helping injured, sick, or orphaned birds. A GoFundMe page was created to help cover the cost of medication, food, and it is still taking donations.
Silver Muzzle Cottage Project: $99,456
Based in Elk Rapids, Michigan, The Silver Muzzle Cottage is a beautiful project that provides care for Senior, Disabled and Hospice dogs giving them the chance to live out their remaining lives with love and dignity.
Gunnar's Wheels: $135,905
When Gunnar got hit by a car and became paraplegic, his owner, Jason Parker founded Gunnar's Wheels. His GoFundMe campaign aims to put together "a fleet of loaner carts for shelter dogs and animals whose owners cannot afford them."
Project Open Paw: $142,486
Project Open Paw is a project that feeds and cares for homeless people's animals. The founder, Paul, began the project when he started to take the unused dog food being thrown out around town and giving it to the homeless people with dogs.
When his food supply was cut off, he started a GoFundMe to pay for food as well as veterinary visits. The campaign is still active and taking donations.
Plush Bear rescue campaign: £113,788 ($146,000)
In China, the Plush Bears Shelter project has rescued a variety of different animal from all over -- from dog dens to slaughterhouses. They created a GoFundMe page to help raise money to build and maintain their own shelter, cover the cost of food and veterinary expenses, as well as, rescuing more animals. The campaign is still taking donations.
Support Rancho Relaxo's Expansion: $147,151
The New Jersey farm and organization, Rancho Relaxo, rescue any type of animal from any form of abuse and neglect. They currently house over 300 rescues and have created a GoFundMe campaign in order to expand their property, which will include a volunteer and adoption center! The campaign is still taking donations.
Pagar El Nuevo Santuario: €129,691 ($148,061)
In Spain, El Hogaris an animal sanctuary that takes in any underprivileged animals. They currently house more than 300 rescues and have created a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for a new location, which became the first multi-species animal sanctuary in Spain.
Salvemos Wild Forest: €136,860 ($156,246)
In Barcelone, Spain, the Wild Forest Reserve is a sanctuary for over 50 wild animals. Due to legal issues, the reserve was forced to close down. The GoFundMe campaign raised money to pay for a new plot of land in order to reopen the reserve.
April the Giraffe & Family Fund: $170,510
April, the Giraffe, is an internet sensation ever since a live stream of her giving birth on YouTube went viral. The Animal Adventure Park In Harpursville, New York, set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the annual care of April, her newborn and the father, Oliver.
Cavalier Puppy Mill Auction Rescue: $188,815
The Cavalier Puppy Mill Auction Rescue GoFundMe raised money for the purchase of cavaliers that were being auctioned in Wheaton, Missouri. This campaign was so successful that all the cavaliers were rescued!
Food for Cows: AUD $269,273 ($221,952)
Due to the drought plaguing Australia for the past two years, a "Food for cows" GoFundMe campaign to raise enough money for the farmers to buy food and water for their cows. he campaign is still taking donations.
Spay, Neuter & Feed Stray/Feral Cats: $259,635
In Connecticut, 77-year-old Willie Ortiz has been taking care of all the stray cats in his neighborhood, paying all of the expenses himself by selling scraps of metal found around town. Luckily, his friend set up this GoFundMe campaign so Ortiz could continue caring for all the neighborhood cats without worrying about the expenses. Due to the success of the campaign, it is now in the process of becoming an official non-profit organization and still taking donations.
Save The Liberia Chimps: $380,945
In Liberia, West Africa, chimpanzees were being invasively tested on by a US-based research organization and were in desperate need of being rescued. Thankfully, the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International began providing emergency care and the situation is now moved out of the emergency phase. This GoFundMe campaign is looking to raise money to create a high-quality sanctuary for the chimpanzees and is still taking donations.
Help Create Gentle Barn St. Louis!: $405,375
The Gentle Barn in St. Louis, Missouri, is another sanctuary for rescued animals of all sorts from any sort of abuse and neglect. It raised money through GoFundMe to open a barn to house six cows that escaped a slaughterhouse.
Patrick The Tsavo Elephant Guardian: $450,265
Tsavo Volunteers are incredible people who help animals in Tsavo, Kenya, especially elephants, that have become endangered due to poaching.
Fearing a prolonged drought, the GoFundMe is raising money (and still taking donations) to transport water to Tsavo. Without that water, animals must walk far distances to access the increasingly rare watering holes, often perishing of thirst in the process.
