Worker Responds to Boss' Tone-Deaf Messages With Memes, Gets Suspended

Imagine working your butt off in the hope that the extra effort might finally lead to some adequate compensation, and then management decides to "show appreciation" with a pizza party or an e-card with clipart of a cake on it that says "great job!" To all the bosses out there, if you're reading this, listen up: a pizza party or a $30 gift card to Olive Garden just doesn't cut it in this economy. The best way to express appreciation for your employees is to adequately pay them. And when the national inflation rate is 7.9% and rising, failing to adjust wages accordingly is essentially a pay cut.

When u/SkrandyNick's manager rewarded his team's hard work with a "keep up the great work guys," he boldly responded with a snarky "drowning high five" meme. Needless to say, it did not go over well with the higher ups.

Well last year nearly everyone exceeded that quota, so what does the company do? Raise our quarterly quota 10 times over to 50k a quarter with only a 2% pay raise (and that is only for the top achievers who threatened to leave). Guess what happens? Many people that had been with the company for decades left, leaving a huge knowledge gap at our company and causing the remaining people to burn out shortly 2 months after. But ya thanks for giving me more work, for the ‘opportunity’ to make more commissions in my non sales focused role.”
