have you looked at a map recently? half the planet is land, the other half water (based of the season four finale adn an image of what mars would look like if it had water) there are three continents. and two are separated only by a wide river!

the same thing we changelings gained. easier trade, better protection, a voice in major politics alongside the princesses that control out sun and moon. less restrictions on residence and commerce within equestria's boundaries, which would include any land you now hold. you would keep your rank. but celestia and luna would be above you.
