Nerds, drop everything! Lego has just announced that it is launching an International Space Station set, after the idea won a competition for the 10 year anniversary of the universally-loved toy. And we can't wait. Interested in other news? Check out these sharks that evolved to walk on land.
Yep, we're excited too. For it's 10 Year Anniversary Fan Vote, Lego let it's fans choose the theme of it's next set. And what's more relevant in 2020 than the International Space Station? The ISS has been orbiting the Earth for almost 20 years and is our only constant connection with space. It's a pretty amazing structure, and the Lego set definitely doesn't miss any of it's unique designs.
The 864 piece set will be about the size of a desktop display (7 inches high, 12 inches long and 19 inches wide), but it will still include details such as its rotating solar arrays and robotic arm. It also comes with toy bricks to build a to-scale space shuttle orbiter, three cargo vehicles (one resembles SpaceX's Dragon capsule and the other two are more similar to Russia's Progress craft), and two astronauts wearing Appollo moon landing suits (we're not sure what gender the astronauts are).
The ISS Lego set will be available from Lego stores and the Lego website on February 1, costing $69.99. Only a few more days to go until you can satisfy both of your nerdy hobbies: space and Lego. The universe is bountiful.
