I love God of War! What started as a testosterone-fueled revenge fantasy has grown and matured alongside its audience, transforming from a brutal hack-and-slash to a deeply emotional saga about fatherhood, fate, and, well… still a lot of brutally executed gods. And now, to celebrate 20 years of Kratos absolutely demolishing anything in his path, PlayStation is giving us something special: the God of War Ragnarok: Dark Odyssey Collection.
Announced via the PlayStation Blog, this new edition of Ragnarok slaps a fresh coat of menacing black-and-gold paint on Kratos and Atreus, making them look even more terrifying than usual (which is saying something). Along with the new outfits, the collection also features sleek alternate designs for the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear, because if you're going to tear through the Norse pantheon, you might as well look stylish doing it.
The Dark Odyssey Collection drops on March 14, and existing Ragnarok owners can grab it as an upgrade, while newcomers can get it as a full bundle. PlayStation is also celebrating the franchise's anniversary with a nostalgic look back at Kratos' history, from his angry Greek days to his more restrained (but still very angry) Norse saga.
20 years, two mythologies, and an uncountable number of dismembered deities later, Kratos is still going strong. And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way, Boy!
