Welp. Just two weeks ago I said no one cares about Rick and Morty anymore - but now they go and drop a trailer and announce that Season 8 premieres on May 25 at 11PM and suddenly I'm like... maybe I care a little?
Season 7 ended on a surprisingly high note with "Fear No Mort," which was actually one of the best episodes in years. It gave Morty emotional depth, made Rick admit something actually heartfelt, and somehow didn't make me want to yeet my TV. And now, with Season 8 right around the corner, it looks like they're ready to have fun again—while still dangling some existential trauma just out of frame. Classic.
This season promises the return of the whole gang—Summer, Jerry, Beth (and Space Beth), plus… Butter Bot. Yes, the little dude from season 1 who was created just to pass butter is possibly making a comeback? Maybe?. Also teased - An adult Summer and some time travel (which, if you know the show, is kind of a big no-no, They do anything BUT time travel).
So yeah, maybe we do still care. Or maybe we're just too far in to stop watching now.
Either way—May 25. We ride.
