Look, I've made peace with the fact that I have too many Funko Pops. There was a time when I'd see one, think "Hey, I like that character," and boom — it was in my cart. Fast forward a few years and I've got an army of soulless, black-eyed figurines silently judging me from every available surface. So I quit. Cold turkey. No more Pops.
But then... they made Krypto.
Just in time for James Gunn's upcoming Superman reboot — the one that promises to inject some actual personality into the DC universe — Funko dropped a new line of vinyl figures. And leading the pack? Superman's loyal superdog, Krypto, based on Gunn's own rescue pup. He's adorable. He's heroic. He drags a wounded Supes to the Fortress of Solitude like an overachieving Lassie and then follows him around like a tail-wagging sidekick. He is, in short, the best boy.
The new lineup also includes David Corenswet's Superman (yes, there's a jumbo one), Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane, and a Lex Luthor Pop that's more "office villain" than "evil genius," holding a LuthorCorp mug like he's about to call an awkward meeting.
These pops arrived way ahead of the movie, just enough time to drain your wallet before Superman hits theaters on July 11. I was out. I swear. But now? Now I'm picturing Krypto sitting proudly next to my Rocket Racoon Pop. Ugh. They got me again.
