So Prime Video just confirmed that Blade Runner 2099 is officially on track for 2026. And honestly? Hard pass.
The original Blade Runner is a timeless masterpiece. A perfect slice of rain-soaked, neon-lit dystopia that still looks better than half the sci-fi made today. Then somehow, against all odds, Denis Villeneuve came along with Blade Runner 2049 and made a sequel that I will say without hesitation is even better than the original. Yeah, I said it. Come at me, bro. I will die on this hill.
So do we really need the "Rings of Power treatment" for Blade Runner? A long, glossy streaming series trying to stretch out a story that was already told perfectly, twice? No, we do not. Michelle Yeoh is amazing, Hunter Schafer is great, and I'm sure the cast will give it everything. But for me, Blade Runner doesn't need to be a "universe." It doesn't need to be franchised into infinity. It was lightning in a bottle - twice.
Leave it alone. I have no interest in this show.
