Birthday Blues: Cat Searches For Forever Home After No One Came To Her Party
Meet Monique, the beautiful 2-year-old moggy cat, who has, sadly, been at the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home for more than 115 days.
The loving crew at the shelter decided to throw Monique a birthday party, after she passed 100 days at the shelter with no applications for her adoption. The party was in hopes to build some hype and find Monique the loving family she so clearly deserves.
I mean, just look at her! Monique deserves it all!

The staff at Battersea decorated Monique’s pen, gave her special toys, and shared news of the celebration online in the hopes of drumming up interest.

But it didn’t work. No one showed up to Monique’s party or showed any interest in taking her home.

The facts are, Monique has been living with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+)

Which makes her a "less desirable" pet.

And while have FIV+ doesn't necessarily mean a shorter lifespan, the new owners do need to be more attentive and cat proof any outdoor area so she could explore and enjoy the fresh air, without coming in contact with other cats and spreading the virus.

Team Leader of the Battersea’s Cattery, Chrissie Grindrod, said: ‘It’s always a shame to see one of our cats be repeatedly overlooked, especially one so young and with so much to offer as a pet."
