Enthusiastically Inaccurate Medieval Art of Animals (Video)

The funniest examples of medieval European paintings where the artist had clearly never seen the animal before. We here at I Can Has Cheezburger have a penchant for artistic renditions of animals. Though, Medieval attempts at animal art looked vastly different from the real species. Clearly these artists had never actually seen these animals before. 

It would certainly be difficult to know what an elephant looks like without ever seeing one, but how do you go that wrong? Couldn't they confer with colleagues and friends? We have so many questions.
