Star Trek Beams Into Bikini Bottom and It's Everything I Never Knew I Needed

Well, file this under "crossovers that should not work but totally do." Paramount+ just dropped a promotional clip that smashes Star Trek and SpongeBob SquarePants into the same quadrant of the galaxy—and it's honestly delightful.

In this strange and beautiful new world, we see Spock (Ethan Peck), Captain Pike (Anson Mount), and Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding) boldly go where no starfleet crew has gone before—aboard a starship shaped like Patrick Star. Yep. It's crewed by Sandy Cheeks, Mr. Krabs as your crusty navigator, and SpongeBob himself popping into the transporter room like it's just another Tuesday. Did it make sense? Absolutely not. Did I want an entire animated series based on this? Absolutely yes.

Sure, Star Trek has crossed paths with the X-Men, Transformers, and even Planet of the Apes before… but this might be the silliest—and possibly most fun—collab to date.

I don't know who at Paramount+ greenlit this fever dream, but bless them. Also, if anyone wants to pitch "The Wrath of Squidward," I'm in.
