Not to be outshined by any galaxy far, far away, the long-awaited sequel, Spaceballs 2: The Schwartz Awakens, has finally been announced, and I am beyond excited! The original gang is back, with Rick Moranis (Can you believe it?!) and Bill Pullman reprising their iconic roles, and none other than Josh Gad, who is helming this project, joining the cast. I'm really hoping he steps into the shoes of the beloved Barf, originally played by the legendary John Candy. If the teaser is anything to go by, we're in for a treat - it hilariously riffs on those iconic Star Wars opening crawls, poking fun at Hollywood's obsession with endless sequels, prequels, and remakes. Classic Mel Brooks humor at its finest!
And speaking of Mel Brooks, the legend himself makes a cameo in the teaser trailer, which is a treat for fans. He'll be 100 years young when the movie comes out in 2027, and we're all rooting for him to not just see the premiere but to live forever, because let's be real, he's one of the funniest humans to ever grace this planet.
So, fellow 80s kids, it's time to dust off those VHS copies of the original Spaceballs, because our favorite parody is back, and it's going to be out of this world - literally!
