Rooster Fighter Is the Anime I Didn’t Know I Needed in My Life

I have a confession. I've never read Rooster Fighter. I knew it existed, vaguely. I knew it had a chicken on the cover and that it was probably weird, even by anime standards. But nothing - nothing - could've prepared me for the official anime trailer. This isn't just some quirky side project. This is a henshin-level epic. It's got giant demons. It's got anime drama. And it's got a rooster named Keiji who punches kaiju in the face with more conviction than most human protagonists. If that doesn't sell you, I don't know what will.

With VIZ and Adult Swim behind it, and creator Shu Sakuratani clearly clucking with pride, Rooster Fighter is shaping up to be the over-the-top absurd masterpiece we all secretly crave. The animation looks slick, the voice cast is stacked, and the trailer gave me goosebumps. Or… chickenbumps? Either way, this is now one of my most anticipated shows of the year. Bring on the feathers, bring on the fists, and please bring subtitles.
