Sweet Kitten Takes Stuffed Dragon To The Vet For Comfort

Get ready for some major cuteness coming your way!

Samantha Smart, from Florida, discovered a tiny kitten meowing around her neighborhood for a few days. She knew she had to help the little guy.

In an interview with The Dodo, Samantha Smart tells the story of how little Ponyo came to be part of her family, "It wasn't just a meow, it was a sad little cry. He had the whole neighborhood working together to find and trap him. We have one cat already so we weren't really looking to add another, but it felt like Ponyo was meant for us!"

Soon after the Smart family adopted little Ponyo, Smart's daughter got Ponyo a special stuffed dragon, to make him feel safe.

Now, Ponyo won't sleep without it! He even carries it from room to room. So when Ponyo had to go to the vet, to get neutered, the Smart family knew they had to bring Ponyo's stuffed dragon along.

"My daughter Violet spent a while picking out the perfect friend for him to sleep with and settled on Dragon," Smart continues to tell The Dodo. "He sleeps with Dragon every night and spends a lot of his time dragging him around the house!"

Here Ponyo is at the vet, Operation Catnip, nervously hiding behind Dragon for protection.

Melissa Jenkins of Operation Catnip told The Dodo, "We all noticed his sweet dragon friend in the carrier with him, so we put the dragon in the kennel with him. Ponyo hid behind the dragon at first and clearly took comfort in it."
Operation Catnip is a "spay-neuter organization that focuses mainly on unowned, free-roaming community cats, to get neutered." You can follow them on Instagram!

“We thought it would be really great to send the dragon on the same journey through the clinic as Ponyo, so we had fun giving the dragon the identical services,” Jenkins said.

And the moment Ponyo first opened his eyes after surgery, Dragon would be there to comfort him.

“As Ponyo was waking up from anesthesia, he meowed and was understandably confused, so we made sure his dragon was close by to offer him some comfort,” Jenkins said.
