With better airplane technology coming out regularly, Boeing 747 airplanes are being recalled - mainly because there are more fuel efficient models available. Australia's most well known and expensive airline Qantas decided to do something totally unpredictable, especially for an Australian company. Qantas' last 747 flew out of Sydney and drew a kangaroo in the sky.

Wow. A kangaroo. Never saw that one coming. Aside from the fact that, yes, it is Qantas' logo, I think it's worth mentioning that kangaroos and, to a lesser extent, koalas, are the only interesting things about Australia. (*Side note: this is an Australian writing so I can say whatever I want.)

Yes, Australians invented Vegemite, and we have some spiders and snakes, but when you think about it, Australia's "culture" is a mishmash of appropriations from other cultures. Waltzing Matilda? A German song. Meat pies? They came from Medieval Europe. Beer? It originated in Mesopotamia

My point is, Qantas could have come up with something really original and unique to symbolize the 747's fifty years of existence in Australia rather than a plain old kangaroo. Something like...a kangaroo wearing a cork hat. Yeah, that's never been done before.
