To set the scene, I (32F) usually give my postal workers snacks or waters around the holidays, but in the summer, I like to grab drinks from the fridge and hand it to them directly bc they'd get hot if I let them sit outside. Last week, my usual UPS driver (60ish M) came to drop off a delivery for my front neighbor. It must've been around 9pm bc it was darkish outside. He parked in front of my house and when I noticed him, I thought, I'll go hand him a water and snack since it's so hot outside!

Yesterday, he rang my doorbell. I come out and say hi, he then asks if he can speak to me while mumbling something on his headset. Conversation went like this: Him: "She's right here honey, I'm gonna put you on speaker" Me: "hello?" Wife: "I mean as long as you tell her what you needed to tell her, then that's it" Him: "she's listening to you, go ahead" Me: "hello..?" Wife: "As a married woman, I don't appreciate you giving my husband water or anything. Me: "oh, I usually give my UPS, USPS, post

Wife: "well as a married woman, I don't like that. And he didn't even have a package for you, you walked out and looked for him. I thought he was at a business making deliveries. Let me take care of my husband." *I thought it was a joke I'm NGL. I let her finish her rant. Me: "well, he was making a delivery to my front neighbors, but you know what, I apologize. I will never give your husband anything else from here on out, have a good day" He then proceeded to say thanks and walked away. Didn't

Other people were just as baffled at this reaction as she was.

StAlvis NTA Wife: "As a married woman, I don't appreciate you giving my husband water or anything. "As a stranger, I don't quite care what you do or do not appreciate."

ImColdandlm Tired Yeah, wife is ridiculous here. As a wife, if my husband were working out in the heat all day, I'd be grateful if someone showed him this kindness. I mean, how insecure do you have to be to be offended that another woman offered your husband a cold bottle of water and a snack to take with him?

lanthin1 NTA and that lady is nuts. Talk about insecure in a relationship! Bet she spends a lot of time thinking about all those of the delivery guy I by some random woman on his route. He appreciated it and that's all that matters on your end. This is really more between him and his wife. Keep being a good person.

PotentialGap2128 OP says this delivery driver (and likely his wife too) are 60 years old! can't believe she's that insecure at that age lol

luby4747 NTA....What grown a man has to ask his wife if he can take the water and snack in the first place?!?? Does he call her before he gets to your house over the holidays?? "Honey!!! I'm almost to that house that always has bomb snacks, can I take one?! Can I?! Can I?!??"
  • 11
Kylynara Does he call her before he gets to your house over the holidays?? I'm wondering if he has to stay on the phone with her all day so she can keep an ear on him and make sure he's not cheating.

New_Improvement9644 Absolutely not. But you might want to send to your UPS driver a package with a new set of balls.

Money-Possibility 606 NTA, and that is abso-f-ing-lutely insane. OF COURSE you didn't do anything wrong. I might report that to UPS, though, because it is absolute batshit for him to go to your house when he doesn't even have a delivery for you and put you on the phone with his wife. He's taking time away from his deliveries, to bother a client with batshit personal business. And honestly... what kind of woman doesn't WANT their husband to be treated kindly?! Please keep giving things to deliver

JennnnnP Is this real?? NTA, and he could probably be reprimanded pretty seriously for approaching you separately about this.

Evening-Cry-8233 NTA but she sounds seriously unhinged and he sounds very very whipped. Yikes.
  • 16
Vegetable_Burrito That is incredibly inappropriate of him to involve you in his bulls. His wife sounds NUTS and I'd be worried she'd try and get your address from her husband. She probably won't do that, but I don't like people who have some imaginary problem with me knowing where I live. NTA and this is why we can't have nice things, because of nuts like the wife.

CheezeLoueez08 NTA that woman is deeply insecure

Afraid-Juggernaut-29 NTA Keep doing your thing. I had a customer practically naked giving me water and my wife seen her and thanked her. I feel bad for the guy 60 working in a truck no ac at 9pm only to go home to that.

Ok-Indication-7876 NTA- could you imagine how horrible this mans life is with that woman? Once I heard how this was going I would have laughed on the phone and told her" would you like me to report this to your husbands boss? You are an angry woman that doesn't recognize an act of kindness. And then to the driver I would have said I feel so badly for you that your wife made you humiliate yourself, I could only guess what a horrible night you had with her that you obeyed her and did this". I ask

C_Majuscula NTA. It's way too hot out not to at least take a drink when it's offered. He had to ask his wife's permission to take a drink and then he subjected a total stranger to her jealous insanity? Yikes.

WVCountry Roads75 NTA- she is a whacko. I put out a cooler with cold drinks and a little bin of snacks. Recently I found a small cube fridge for giveaway (local college, kids don't care about that stuff when they move out!) I put it on a little table with a note on the front for delivery people to help themselves, and the snack bin on top. It all tucks neatly into a corner and is only visible when coming up onto the porch.

No Technology9099 NTA. Poor guy. His wife is out of control.
