'Mentally I'm Here' Memes Showcase The Brutality And Escapism Of 2020
If you haven't been in a coma for the bulk of 2020, then we don't need to tell you that shit is MESSED UP. And people are coping with the year's joys in different ways. While rich folks have packed their families up to country homes, most of us are stuck escaping through television or the internet. And some of us are just wasting away in the most depressing corners of our brains. And there's a new Twitter meme that kinda sums up all of that.
On the site, savvy twitter folks are using the text "mentally i'm here" to show their followers exactly which route they've taken. While some users are choosing to mentally transport to, say, Star's Hollow (the fictional town in Gilmore Girls), others are depicting some pretty bleak Spongebob grabs or other solitary, soul-sucking scenes.
