Cats And Their Keyboard Adoration (Comic)

Not only do cats dominate the internet, but they also dominate laptops -- literally. Did you know that cats love laying on your keyboard because they love you? It's true! You might think it has something to do with heat and usually, that's true. If your cat is constantly perching itself up on top of your internet modem, your laptop charger, they are seeking the heat from it. However, the reason a cat will sit on your keyboard the moment you're using it is that they want a reaction from you!

Marilyn Krieger, Certified Cat Behavior Consultant and author of Naughty No More! Changing Unwanted Behaviors Through Positive Reinforcement, explains, "Many cats sit on spots such as keyboards and laptops because they are near their favorite person and can be at the center of their attention. Usually, people reinforce the behavior by petting the cat and/or talking with him. Cats quickly learn that when they sit on the keyboard they get what they want—attention."
