All of these fast-food chain restaurants better be careful because it seems like a new one gets exposed every day.To any CEO's out there, no need to be paranoid as long as your chain makes an effort to be transparent about its ingredients, treats its employees with respect, and doesn't waste an absurd amount of perfectly fine food every day at closing….
But to be honest, anyone who has worked in the food industry, at any level, knows that food will always get thrown out from time to time. Sometimes for valid reasons, like health concerns, but often just because the company doesn't want to take measures to try and preserve or effectively donate the food because those kinds of efforts take time… And have you ever met a restaurant manager that wants to put in that time? It's most definitely not an excuse, just a bit of rationale.
Back in 2021 a teen employee from Dunkin could not take the excessive waste anymore and shared a video of how many donuts get tossed during closing time every day. The video naturally blew up as it was pretty jarring to watch as a consumer.
Yeah, that's pretty difficult to watch, even though it was edited well. Today the video has over 38 million views, and it wasn't even the only video that Bryan made exposing the chain. He clearly stopped giving a f**k once the first one blew up.
Even after other previous and current Dunkin Employees agreed about the excessive donut waste in the comments, it was still hard for the general public to believe. So many donuts, all in the trash. It hurts to think about.
Eventually, Bryan was fired for sharing his videos, but he clearly had no regrets.
And in case you were worried about this brave teen, he recently shared a video about where he is today and thankfully he seems to be doing just fine.
We guess honesty is the best policy after all.
