Navigating a bureaucracy can be stressful and brimming with pointlessness, especially when dealing with someone who's in a position to make dubious claims about databases and such. Seeing a stupid opportunity, this person used the rules to get themselves in the door.
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by u/theoryofrelativetea, who had to get a fingerprint for his summer job and whose appointment was automatically canceled after he showed up just five minutes late.
After seeing someone arrive at their appointment early and get seen immediately, the Redditor realized that they just need his information in the system and that he could probably get seen immediately. So, he made an appointment while sitting in the waiting room for three days later and asked if he could be seen 72 hours early now that he followed the so-called protocol. He may have received the biggest sigh ever from the front desk security cop, but it worked! There's something to be said for following the rule, only to expose that the rule itself is as dumb as it gets.
Here are some more great, stupid loopholes that worked.
