    Yesss, say it louder for my boys in the back! Arguing is not an imperative feature of a healthy relationship, however, if there are issues I think it's better to hash it out rather than shoving things under the rug. Nobody wants a lumpy rug! It's embarrassing!

Resist the urge to always defend yourself. Take a pause. Evaluate and try to understand how something is making them feel. ETA: of course you have reasons for doing what you did/do.
