One can never help but worry what their pet's reaction is going to be when bringing an itty bitty newborn human home. We want them to be best friends, we want them to love each other, but for the pet, this milk-smelling mini human is even stranger than us large humans. And the whole thing is even more worrisome for someone who has more than one pet.
For Tumblr user dedalvs, for a moment, it looked like the worst was going to happen. After one of her cats very curiously came up to her baby and sniffed it, the baby started wailing, and the cat was petrified. Thankfully, his sibling cat was there to put him in his place.
Did you know that one of the reasons cats love babies as much as they do, rubbing their heads against the baby, touching it, cleaning it, is because babies smell like milk? Cats liking babies doesn't mean, of course, that you should leave them alone with the baby. Play can turn rough very quickly, but the odds are on our side when it comes to out cat's reaction to a baby.
And this is where the fear would settle in if I were this cat owner. On the other hand, my cat also wails like a dang baby sometimes, so she should really be used to it. Still, maybe this is a lesson to take that the first meeting should happen when the baby is asleep.
