January 21st is the actual annual date of National Hug Day. Although frankly, if we are being honest, this should be a much more common sort of day. Kind of like a Friday. Hugging should happen more often and amongst more people (only if the people actually agree to it, of course- consent is important!). When animals hug, it bursts into our brains as if we are being hugged ourselves. It is so sweet and heartwarming, that I'm pretty much convinced we should make it a regular holiday.
We have here raccoons, dogs, cats, reptiles, seals, dolphins, and bunnies! My goodness, are there any animals even missing? There are mixed-species hugs and homogenized-species hugs. We can learn a thing or two from these darlings. Love is a powerful thing and these little guys show us exactly why.
My goodness the look of content on that dog's faaaaaaaace! I don't know how this photo even came to be and I'm dying to know. Where is this? Who is taking the photo? Is the raccoon and dog friends? Do they regularly meet up? Are these hugs regular occurrences? I need answers and I need them now!
Now, listen... All the other photos on this list are mammals. So, to have a picture like this between reptiles is just amazing. They honestly look like they are having the time of their lives and enjoying each other the way other people ought to. Even if you're cold-blooded, it doesn't mean you have a cold heart.
