Wombats are one of the most underrated cutest animals ever. They have an internet following, kind of like the love that sloths have received over recent years but less trendy. Wombats are a strange mix in that they look like what would happen if a kangaroo and a koala and a pig got together and had a baby. Only in Australia, I tell ya. One of my best friends is obsessed with wombats and the moment I told her I was making this list, she was already blowing up my phone with some of the examples you will find below!

Wombats are clearly a very cuddly bunch! They were born for hugging and digging, basically. Unlike kangaroos, wombats have their pouches on their backs so that they can dig in the ground without harming or dirtying their young. I am such a sucker for mammals that like being held. Wombats are wildlife's babies and I have a strong urge to swaddle. Those claws are surely not to be messed with but it's safe to assume that if you're gentle with them, they're gently with you.

Seeing wombats bask in the sun is parallel to watching cats cuddle-roll. They feel confident and safe and are enjoying life as you all can clearly see in this photo! I kinda want to put a pillow of moss under its head. Is that weird?
