AITA for telling a stranger at a café that her kid isn't my responsibility?

Snapping at her, in my opinion, was the mildest reaction that this mom deserved for leaving her kid like that!

It's easy to imagine how you'd act in a situation like this, but I think the shock and it happening so quickly would leave most people confused.

Café employee left suddenly in charge of taking care of a stranger's toddler mid-shift, chasises the mom when she returns after 15 minutes: 'I'm not responsible for him'
There's a very specific type of panic that sets in when you realize that someone else's safety suddenly depends on you. I used to babysit a toddler – something I had been doing for months. At this point, I understood how to deal with his tantrums, how to make sense of his weird two-year-old vocabulary, and how to keep him entertained. One day, his mom found herself in an emergency situation, and I had to suddenly take care of her 5-month-old baby as well. At this point, I had zero experience with anyone under 2 years of age, and I couldn't even concentrate on the baby because the toddler demanded attention. Being responsible for the safety of another life is incredibly stressful – especially if you didn't agree to it or plan for it.
But hey – at least I had held that baby a handful of times before, knew his mother really well, and understood the urgency of the situation she was in at the time. However, when this café employee is handed a toddler in the middle of her shift by a complete stranger and simply told to watch him, she's not even given the opportunity to protest; the mom practically ran out the door mid-conversation. Yep, this totally sounds like a set-up for an episode of ABC's What Would You Do? And naturally, the internet has a lot of ideas as to how they'd react in this situation; scroll down to check it out!
