As long as the internet's been around we've had dishonest people eager to inflate their egos through weaving tales of pure fiction. Some lies are nastier than others. Especially when you have people literally just trying to recycle the hard work of say, an artist, online. That's just gross. So, we love it when people step up online to call out the world's lot of lousy liars.

    Font - 10 hours ago NEW I booked the venue 7 months out from my 40th birthday leaving a substantial deposit. There was no mention of it being a non refundable nor was it written anywhere. Circumstances changed and I tried to cancel the booking 4 weeks out and use the deposit towards a bar tab instead for friends on another night and was ignored. 2 weeks out and 6 calls later I emailed and got a reply to say, sorry it's non refundable and you can't use it for your tab.     Organism - response below Yes the deposit was towards the venue hire. The definition of a deposit is 'part of a full price or something' which this was. Even if it was a hire, I no longer require the venue. Given that no written agreement was made and six weeks notice given, I would think that it should be refundable.     Font - You received a receipt in person and later by email proving you hired our venue. At no point did anybody use the word deposit and your receipt says the word HIRE as well. Making it sound like it was a "deposit" that is refundable without question is simply not true. Efforts were made to contact you after you called us about this but no luck. You also never emailed us formally until 2 weeks before and never came in to discuss the matter. You broke our hire agreement leaving a $1500 bar tab

    Font - pursuing that (even though it represents a large loss for us). By paying to book our venue we turned away two other much larger group bookings because we had a commitment to you. As you know people book large parties much more than 6 months in advance so they can stop others from booking the venue, that is what you also did and that is what you paid us to do. We did our job. If we are able to get another booking for your date we will be happy to refund your hire fee.
