  • "My coworker tried to whisper about me during a Teams call while unmuted and screen sharing"

  • This happened yesterday and I still have secondhand embarrassment. We were on a Microsoft Teams call with about 15 people doing our weekly sync. My coworker Megan was sharing her screen to walk through some updates.
  • Everything's going fine until someone asks me a question and I start answering. That's when I hear Megan say, completely clear through her mic, Here we go. Hope everyone packed a lunch.
  • Then, while still screen sharing, she switches tabs... and there it is. A private Teams chat with another coworker open, saying She never shuts up lol I swear she loves the sound of her own voice.

  • There was this awkward silence. One guy muted himself so fast I'm pretty sure he was choking on laughter.
  • I finished my answer and ended the call as soon as I could. Megan messaged me later saying it. wasn't meant for me. Cool. Still heard it. Still read it. Still not forgetting anytime soon.

  • ReactionEither6684. That's brutal. The secondhand cringe is real. I don't get how people still forget about screen sharing and mute buttons in 2025.
  • PersimmonBasket · 4h ago . I would be asking her for packed lunch ideas just to watch her squirm.
  • Old-insanesBFF1231 4h ago Be sure to smile and make intense eye contact every time you see Megan from now on.

  • Different_Net_67524h ago Someone did this where I work and the subject of the note filed an HR complaint. The person came pretty close to getting fired.
  • Subject-Regret-3... . 4h ago You have nothing to be embarrassed about though. This is all Megan, not you. What is that old saying? "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people"
  • Or "Listen carefully to how that person speaks about other people, they may be speaking about you that way as well" Good luck OP.
