Dogs can take a lot of time and effort to train, especially if they're cute. How do you say no to that face? It's honestly one of the most difficult parts of being a dog owner. But eventually, we all have to suck it up and discipline our pets, or else you can expect 10+ years of a lingering pee and poo smell all over your home. The choice is yours. Some dogs are also harder to train than others based on their temperament, but it's not really an excuse to let them go untrained, especially if you have neighbors — and yet that's exactly what this Reddit user tried to get away with when they posted to r/AmITheAsshole saying their neighbors refused a request to have their children not use the yard while their dog is also outdoors to prevent barking.
The neighbors told the original poster that they can't and won't keep their four children indoors just because OP can't stop her dog from barking — and they're exactly correct. The children aren't doing anything to annoy anybody. The dog is! If anything, as Redditors in the comments suggest, the OP has a duty to keep her dog from barking so as not to disturb others, not the other way around.
It was Reddit user u/InTheHeightsObsessed who asked the 'Am I The A-Hole' community if they were the one who was in the wrong for asking their neighbors to keep their kids indoors at certain times throughout the day.
She begins by providing some much-needed backstory. How she and her husband (and her untrained pitbull) had just moved into a new neighborhood. She seems to believe the only problem is that they have neighbors... Yes, the neighbors are the issue.
