Nur Hamizah, the 30-year-old housewife, decided to help the cat who was clearly unable to take care of itself and wouldn't have survived for long on its own. Slowly, she coaxed the cat into a cardboard box and brought it to her and her husband's home. Initially, Nur Hamizah explains that the cat - now named Meimei - was "very scared of them," making her suspect that Meimei may have been abused and abandoned by someone else.

Thankfully, Meimei found herself in good hands. The pair took Meimei to the vet to treat her many wounds and her skin infection, giving her food, water, and shelter. At the vet, they found out just how malnourished Meimei was, weighing about 2kg (about 4.4 pounds). If it weren't for the pictures, we're not sure we would have believed how amazing her transformation has been.

Only one year later, and Meimei looks like a completely different cat. Her fur started to grow back after 5-6 months of living with the couple, her weight increased with her new healthy regime, and she is clearly much, much happier. Nur Hamizah told SAYS, laughing and joyful: "Meimei doesn't have a special diet but she eats about four to five times a day. And after she eats, she always sleeps."

Meimei's relationship with humans is still developing. Unfortunately, she is still scared of them, but she has grown to love and show affection to Nur Hamizah and her husband, and that is amazing progress. Nur Hamizah explained that Meimei is constantly looking for her around the house, lying next to her as she does chores. "She's very intelligent too. It looks like she always understands my husband and I when we talk to her," she added.

All Meimei needed was some love and care, but we understand that not everyone can give it. That is why we are all the more thankful to Nur Hamizah and her husband for doing this amazing thing and rescuing here. There's nothing than we love more in the world than reading about happy-ending animal rescues.
