Many of us associate TV news with a high level of seriousness and professionalism (depending on what channel you're watching). However, as a live broadcast it is definitely not immune to gaffes, and not just when it comes to getting ahead of the autocue. Australia's ABC News recently experienced such a mistake, when footage from a Satanic ritual — complete with a pentagram and upside down cross — was accidentally cut in with a news report about a new law being passed. The "satanic slip-up" was pointed out by Media Watch, which shared the video on their Twitter account.
Although the snippet contained the kind of content that might make you suspect that there's some kind of cult involved, the offending video was part of a livestream from the Noosa Temple Of Satan, which has been in the media in recent weeks for their legal challenge to the Australian government's Department of Education. Nonetheless, eagle eyed viewers were entertained by the bizarre occurrence. Maybe the powers that be are starting to get lazy with the subliminal messaging.
