Discussion: Dog Breeds Users Would Love To Adopt But For Whatever Reason Cannot

Dog owners and dog lovers alike can relate to this reddit discussion! The question is simple, the answers are diverse! Which breeds would you love to have but can't? The reason for not being able to have this dog could be anything, really. Perhaps you have a disability and are not able to keep up with this desired breed's energy levels.

Perhaps you live in a tiny apartment and know that it wouldn't be fair to have a giant doggo, given that your desired breed would be of the large variety, in a tiny apartment. The reasons are endless, it doesn't mean we can't dream though! And maybe one day circumstances will change and we'll finally be able to adopt our dream breed.

    We love playing pretend and thinking about our futures. How many kids will we have? What kind of job will we be working? And most importantly, the doggos. How many will we have? What breed? Why? Why can't we get one already? There are so many things to think about!

    Font - ClamPuddingCake · 5d American Eskimo Dog. The most beautiful, majestic of all dogs, but I just don't think I could deal with the shedding and energy. I have a disability that limits my ability to be consistently active, so many breeds are just too high energy for me to handle. But in my fantasy, I live out in the woods and I have all the room and energy for border collies, hounds, and maybe even a Doberman just because they look so elegant.

    ClamPuddingCake tells it like it is. Not everyone is physically capable of chasing after high energy doggos all day, and that is totally okay. It's still nice to dream, though. We hope this beautiful fantasy comes true!

Half wolfhound half chocolate lab. He looked like Chewbacca! She wanted a wolfhound but was also worried about the short life span. Labs seem to live well into their teens.     Font - 10stepstosuccession · 5d A giant schnauzer. I absolutely love them but we fostered a standard one for a few months waiting for the new owner to have her home ready and it was a mess. Granted that dog came from a bad situation but they just require sooo much time and energy. I'm a stay at home mom and I have a 1/2 acre backyard with a large house and walk 2-5 miles of trails every morning but that's not enough. All the time these terribly neurotic border collie mixes come in who are just over the top (one used to be an actual working dog and now lives in an apartment who jumped around and barked the entire time she was in the clinic 9) and I was thinking why is it that ours was fine? I wanted this too but we got an Italian Greyhound to begin with and he is way too small and fragile to pair with a larger dog with prey drive.
