Accidentally mistaking a customer at a store for an employee is an embarrassing experience. We've all been there. But some customers gain a bizarre sense of superiority by verbally abusing customer service employees, and when a Karen magically appears to mistake a fellow customer for an employee and displays just how rude they were going to speak to a person just trying to do their job, that's when things get fun — and not for the Karen. Reddit user u/Mike_OxonFaier shared a friend's grocery store shopping Karen tale on the r/IDontWorkHereLady subreddit and displayed a creative way to deal with a rude person in this situation: simply grant the job you didn't have in the first place onto the rude customer involved. This situation worked out so poorly for the Karen involved that a third customer who witnessed this ridiculous interaction decided to pile on and ask for help, too, prompting the rude woman to leave the store entirely.
Threatening to get someone fired for not helping you to the standard you expect is rude. It doesn't help when you can't even understand that the person you're threatening doesn't even work there. It's a beautiful day when the gloves come off. For another wondrous Karen moment, here's the secret shopper who was so much of a Karen that she got fired.
